This book was written in the years [?] of the father of fathers and chief of pastors, head of churches and [something] of monasteries, holy and source of holiness, and pure and spring of purity, Mar Shem’on, Catholicos Patriarch of the whole habitable earth, may his see be strengthened to the end of days [...] for the glory of the catholicoi and the pride of the apostolics, Amen, and in the days of the vigilant leader, and marvellous superior, and wonderful director, and fine governor, and true shepherd, Mar Gabriel bishop of Gazarta of Beth Zabday, may the Lord support his old age on the staff of strength, and protect his years, and lengthen his days, Amen. This book was written in the very blessed and orthodox city of Gazarta of Beth Zabday [location]. Summary | It was bought for twelve royal red deniers for the Church of Mar Pethion at Amida (Diyarbakir), by the priests Īshōʿ son of the priest Ḥasan, and the priest ʿAbd Allah, son of Darwīsh, and the priest Khōshabā, son of Yaḥya, and the priest Khōshabā, son of Bagdad, and the priest Fakhr al-Dīn, son of the priest ʿAbd Masīḥ, and the priest Īshōʿ son of the priest Safar, and the priest ʿĪsā, who is named Bar ʿArab Ōghlī [?], and the priest ʿAbd Allah, who is surnamed bar Nasr al-Dīn, along with the noble chiefs and marvellous senators and true believers, Khōja Bīram, overseer of overseers, and faithful/trusted of kings, nobleman, and Khōja Hormizd, who is named Bar Dimashqī, and Khōja Yawsepshah (Yusufshah), and Khōja Qarājā, and Khōja Shamsī, and the craftsman, the elder Salman, the baker, and Khōja Yaʿqōb Shah, called Bar Shameh, with the rest of the chiefs…in the year 1857 (1546). |

Summary | The deacon Gewargis, son of Khōja Salman, gave to the church of Mar Pethion three of his lands, which are in the village of Jārōkhīya [Wilmshurst transliterates as Sharūkhīya]. I wrote this with my own hands, me, the feeble Ishoʿyahb, bishop of Amida [Diyarbakir] and Siirt, in 1917 of the Greeks (1605/1606) [he then lists some witnesses to the signature including more notables]. |
